Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Herbert Byard

Letter No.: VWL2702

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

July 11th 1953.

Dear Mr Byard,
This is sad news about the Bristol Phil. but I fear its1 no good flogging a dead horse, and I had better reserve my powder and shot for something useful.  But I should like to see your article very much, and I hope you will write it, and I might be moved to dot your iiis and cross your ttts in a following up letter.  I fear this will be enough to kill poor Arnold Barter.2  And Bristol is not the only place where prophets are not honoured in their own country.
With kind regards from us both to you both,
Yrs
R. Vaughan Williams
