Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Arnold Barter

Letter No.: VWL2157

The White Gates,
Dorking, Surrey.

15th November, 1950.

Dear Barter

Thank you so much for your invitation.  I was hoping to come but I have an engagement I cannot miss now on the same day.  So there it is!1
May I send you my little personal contribution to the expenses of your performances – I am afraid not so much as formerly, but this year I have to give an extra large Christmas Box to the Chancellor of the Exchequer.
Yrs

R. Vaughan Williams

Encl.

1. Presumably to the performance by the Bristol Philharmonic Society of VW’s Fantasia quasi variazione on the Old 104th psalm tune, referred to in VWL2114.
