Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Ursula Wood
Letter No.: VWL1840
From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.
[March 1943]
My Dear
I like your poem very much – I see the idea of it (how clever of me). I am not sure that I like “brim” as a verb – what do you think?1
As regards “Ah my dear heart” here is my amended version – By the way my niece Pam2 picked up the extension to see if the telephone was for her – & heard me saying “O my dear heart”! & quickly hung up again – I explained it was only a quotation!
Much love
