I saw Hawkes yesterday and had a talk with him – he was quite pleasant and has agreed to write Stanley a letter.¹ I wish I c^d get entirely to the bottom of it. But no doubt both Stanley & Peggy have been very foolish. Thank you 1000 times for all you have done.
