I am probably going to do another broadcast on Marching Tunes!  I wish I could think that it w^d be any use going into Augeners again before the rehearsal.²

1. Imogen Holst had been appointed by the Pilgrim Trust as one of six travelling organisers of music events. Her area was South West England. The scheme developed into the Council for the Encouragement of Music and the Arts (CEMA) and from that into the Arts Council of Great Britain. See Rosamund Strode, ‘Imogen Holst’, The R.C.M. Magazine, lxxx (1984), p.71. Thomas Jones was first secretary of the Pilgrim Trust 1930-45 and Deputy Chairman of the Arts Council, 1939-1942 following a distinguished career in the Civil Service. Imogen Holst wrote about her work in ‘Rural music’, R.C.M. Magazine, xxxvi (1940), p.78-79.
2. Augeners were one of the major music publishers and also had a music show room where music published both by themselves and others could be bought. They were taken over by Galliard Music in 1962.
