Westcott Road,
Dorking.

My Dear Mary1
It is most kind of you to have done all this for me – I hope something will result from all my friends efforts but my private opinion is that I have dried up.

1. The most likely recipient, though the envelope doesn’t survive to confirm this. A sister of Dorothy Longman, she had lent the VWs her house at Oare in Wiltshire in July 1924 when VW wished to find a quiet retreat from London where he could write. This time she seems to have been responsible for VW finding Rose Cottage at Stapleford.
