I’m so distressed to hear of your tremendous expense so – the enclosed is but a drop in the ocean – it was part of my original scheme¹ only I thought it better it sh^d come in driblets. Mind its what we owe you as one of the very pleasant duties attaching to the great happiness it is to be considered as your friends.
