MRS. R. VAUGHAN WILLIAMS, 10 HANOVER TERRACE, LONDON, N.W.1.

[24 July 1958]

Rehearsals1 going splendidly.  We enjoyed the Menotti & hated the Soldiers tale,2 (brilliantly produced though it was) Cheap, sentimental claptrap, then, old fashioned & tedious, with nasty music!
Gil will be here on Friday, I think – & no dinner jackets needed for Saturday.3  We loved seeing you so much.
All love from both.
U.
