Letter No.: VWL2924

From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.

December 25th 1954.

Dear Michael & Eslyn,

We love having your picture – and I must say for once, it is a photograph that does you both justice.  We are all mad not to dress up in glory much more often.  We do think you both look marvellous.
Did you know Ralph is conducting his Sea Symphony1 at Birmingham – part of a broadcast series, on February 6th?  Any chance of your coming?
We are enjoying being at home so much, and Ralph is hard at work.  We had our usual carol party, 40 people, & only English traditional carols – a heavenly evening – & five tenors!2
A very happy new year to you: may your garden flower from now till next December (have you a winter sweet? & iris stylosa?) & life the same.
Lots of love from us both,

Ursula.
