July 7th [1956]

My dearest Michael & Eslyn,

I waited till today to write to you, as the specialist came again to see Ralph.1  He is making good progress, but it seems that this is not to be hurried, & they say – not outside the house for three weeks – so bang go Cheltenham & Kings Lynn.  Luckily, Ralph is able to work, is frightfully well, except his right leg.  So its not too bad, but we had been looking forward to Cheltenham so much.  It would make it less of a miss for us if you really could come a day early, & we’d love to have you to stay – so you will tell me which night?  Sunday?  It will be lovely if you can do this, & we’d so much enjoy it.
Love

Ursula.
