The White Gates,
Dorking.

July 28th [1953]

 Dear Martin,
The party is a mixture of local & other, but though, Ralph says, it would be lovely if you came, it would really be much more fun to see you some other time when there isn’t a party.  I don’t think there are going to be other celebrations – so you must do as you feel.  (sorry!)1

But it will all be rather a hurley burley – and I’m afraid this isn’t very helpful.

Will you be at Hereford?  This has been a dashing about year.  We went to France in May & King’s Lynn was great fun.  What lovely places all round.  Now a breather with noses to grindstones  before the 3 choirs is upon us.

Is there any change of you’re coming this way?

Ralph sends his love to you both, & wishes he could have met the roadman.

With love,

Ursula
