June 1st. [1958]
My dear Joan,
I have passed the enquiry on to an odd child, a terrific fan of Ralph’s, who works in the H.M.V. shop. She has a stamped envelope to send on to you.
We aren’t going to Addington Palace – I’ve even forgotten the date – but I wonder if it would make it any easier for you to have the car to meet you at Liverp. St & take you down, & either deliver you back at your train, or having you here for the night – which ever is easier – only our spare room is on the top floor. Once you are there you have bath & lav. to hand, but its a long way up. Needless to say we’d love to have you; and we are always trying to find something to keep the chauffeur busy, so don’t hesitate.
We are just back from Italy. We had a splendid holiday, with wines & strawberries to balance the sightseeing – & Ralph is as well as can be.
We enjoyed seeing Diccon1
love from us both
Ursula.
