From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,

Dorking.

June 10 [1952]

Dear Mr Susskind
It is a great distress to me that I cannot hear your concert on the 14th – I promised months ago that I would conduct (!) at Oxford on the 14th – I shall think of you & can only hope that I shall have the pleasure and opportunity some other time.1
Yours sincerely
R Vaughan Williams

1. VW conducted Let us Now Praise Famous Men and Serenade to Music in the Sheldonian Theatre in Oxford on Saturday 14 June 1952.
