A few years ago I tried to stir up George Trevelyan and Gilbert Murray about this awful scheme for a translation of the Bible into “Daily Mail” English.  I could get no sparks out of them.¹
It now occurs to me that you might possibly be the person to take up the crusade, with which your wonderful pages about the English Bible in your new book convince me you are in sympathy.²
I enclose a copy of the letter I wrote to these two.  Could you not start a crusade in “Time and Tide” about it?³
