Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Vally Lasker

Letter No.: VWL870

The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

[13th October 1930]

Dear Vally

Thankyou very much for the cello part.
I enclose a “chit” in case they challenge you at rehearsal – but don’t use it unless obliged, just walk in.1
I am sending a few notices of the R.O.M2 concert – If you could help to make it known I should be very grateful – I want as many people as possible to hear his music.
Yrs

R. Vaughan Williams

P.S. The Job rehearsals are Friday Oct 17th at 11.0  Saturday Oct 18th at 4.0 – Both at Royal Academy of Music3 – I can’t promise to go right through it on Saturday.

1. VW was inviting Vally Lasker to attend the rehearsals of Job; see postscript.
2. A concert of works by R.O. Morris; see R.V.W.: a biography, p.185.
3. VW stresses ‘Academy’ presumably because his links were much closer with the Royal College of Music.
