Letter No.: VWL4424

From R. Vaughan Williams,

Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.

Jan 13 1954 [i.e.1955]

Dear Mr Treasurer
I am anxious this jubilee year to have a specially good performance of the Passion – To achieve that I am suggesting that the extra rehearsal on Thursday March 17 should include the full orchestra – and possibly some of the soloists – This Dr Cole1 tells me will involve an extra expense of about £85 which I enclose.
In case this action of mine should appear fantastic I should explain that I have lately received a large & unexpected windfall of ill-earned money from the P.R.S.2
By the way I hope you have received my annual donation of £120 – I think it is paid by banker’s order
Yrs sincerely
R Vaughan Williams
