29 August 1955

Dear Choirmaster and Members of the Budo Festival Choir

It gave me great pleasure to receive your very nice letter, especially as it contained all your signatures and your photograph.
I am glad you enjoyed singing my motet.1 I am a great friend of Dr Harold Darke, and I am glad he heard you sing.
I wish you many happy years of singing, and that you will go on from strength to strength.  Perhaps one day my wife and I will have the chance of hearing you sing – perhaps over the wireless, which would be better than nothing.
Thank you once again for your letter.
With kind regards from both of us,
Yours sincerely

R. Vaughan Williams
