1.  Following the Trust’s publication of A London Symphony, VW had sat on a panel, with Sir Henry Hadow and Dan Godfrey, to assess works submitted by other composers for the Trust’s ‘Scheme for the publication of musical compositions’.  This letter is clearly written in that capacity.  Mackenzie’s opera The Eve of St John apparently was not accepted for the Carnegie scheme but was published by Ascherberg, Hopwood & Crew in 1923.
