Dear Sir

I have just returned from abroad and have received your kind letter with regards to my “London symphony”.1
Owing to absence from home I was unable to revise the score before I sent it in.
It is absolutely essential that it should be thoroughly revised before printing and, owing to my military duties I see no chance of being able to do this during the war.  In these circumstances would you still wish me to send the score to Messrs Stainer and Bell and to sign the agreement?
Yrs faithfully,

R. Vaughan Williams
