Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Sinclair Logan

Letter No.: VWL5166

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

Feb 8 [1930s?]

Dear Mr Logan
Thank you very much for your letter. It is a most beautiful tune and I am glad you think the accompaniment is adequate.
Do please arrange it for strings – I suppose we shall have to get Miss Karpeles’ leave1 – but tell her that as far as I am concerned all is well
Yours sincerely
R Vaughan Williams

1. Maud Karpeles, with whom VW had collaborated in the arrangement and publication of folksongs. It is not clear to which tune this refers. Logan was a professional baritone singer.
