Dear Roy

On the evening of the 24th I have to attend an EFDS.1 party in Manchester, which means leaving Euston at 1.15 (lunch on train.) If you cared to come by that train also it would be very nice, and if you weren’t too bored you might come to the party. On the other hand you may be busy and prefer to come by the 2.45-M.6.46 or 3.45-M 7.55 or 4.30-M 8.41, or 6.0-M 9.40. Let me know as soon as you can if you are coming with me, and I will get you a reservation. The Grand Hotel is full. I will let you know the name of our Hotel as soon as I know.

Yrs

1. An 80th birthday party given by the Manchester branch of the English Folk Dance and Song Society. Morris dancers showed VW “Godley Hill” and “Bledington Trunkles.” Then young men of the Holy Name Scout Troop danced the Newbiggin sword dance, and on the star into which their movements wove their blades they carried in a birthday cake with eighty candles. VW then spoke at some length.
