Dear Müller-Hartmann,
Thank you very much. I can say no more but you know how I value your good opinion.1
Yrs
R. Vaughan Williams
R. Müller Hartmann, Esq.
1. Written in response to a letter from Müller-Hartmann written on December 16th (British Library MS Mus. 1714/1/17, f. 136), which explained that he left the rehearsal of the sixth symphony without speaking to VW because of his emotional reaction: “I never anticipated the overwhelming impression the real thing would make on me”. See White, Dear Müller-Hartmann, p.130 footnote, also R.V.W.:a biography p.279, and Kennedy, Works of Vaughan Williams, pp.300-301.
