Letter No.: VWL2227
From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.
May 10 [1951]
Dear Randolph
Adeline died today in her sleep – It was not a surprize to me as she had been very ill for some weeks. I wanted to tell you before you saw it in the paper.1
Yrs
Ralph
1, It is clear that Wedgwood was amongst the first people he felt he must tell of AVW’s death on May 10, just as he had been one of the first people with whom VW shared news of his engagement to Adeline in 1897.
