The two possible years in which July 22 was a Sunday are 1945 or 1951. 1945 would seem unlikely as he wrote another letter to Wedgwood on 21 July that year (VWL1896) which seems improbable if he was to lunch with him the following day. Also he says ‘I’ accept (no mention of AVW). The date of the letter assumes that, judging from the phrasing, VW was writing more than ten days before the proposed lunch.
