Dear Greaves
I have looked through your score which I return – I make one or two suggestions otherwise I think it is very good. Thank you so much for taking so much trouble.1
Yours sincerely
R. Vaughan Williams
1. Greaves had adapted ‘Greensleeves’ from the opera Sir John in Love, Catalogue of Works 1928/3, into the Fantasia on Greensleeves, Catalogue of Works 1934/1.

General Notes:
On 7 February Oxford University Press had written to Mrs Kettlewell of the English Folk Dance and Song Society, who had asked for a full score of Sir John in Love, about the extract arrangement of Greensleaves, writing that the item was not present at that moment due to the arrangement being made just at this time.
