Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Percy Young
Letter No.: VWL2835
The White Gates,
Dorking,
20th October, 1948.
Dear Dr. Young,
I make it a rule never to read anything written about myself before publication, otherwise I could hardly pass anything I did not like, and I might be held guilty of inspiring anything which I did like.
Of course any facts you want to know I shall be delighted to help you with, but I am afraid you will find me very shaky as to dates, &c.
I look forward with great interest to your book when it comes out.1
I have today had a letter from Eric Greene.2 He tells me you are great friends.
Yours sincerely,
R. Vaughan Williams
Dr Percy M. Young,
