Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Norman Tattersall
Letter No.: VWL3290
From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.
June 4th 1958.
Dear Norman,
Your invitation sounds delightful, but I fear we can make no engagements so far ahead – so may we please leave it at that.
I am so glad that your Festival was such a success and we didn’t get many papers in Italy, so we hadn’t seen that Times. I return the cutting.1
Yours,
RVW
1. Tattersall ran the Redcliffe Festival, of which VW was President. See VWL3566. The cutting may have been from the Kensington News and West London Times of 16 May 1958, reporting on a Purcell and Handel concert given as a ‘taster’ for the festival to be held in October.
