I return quartet herewith – If your engraver can guarantee that the reprint will be as beautifully clear as the Bartok example I prefer that.¹

1.  Peterkin had written to VW on 25th October sending two examples of string quartet scores, one in the size that they had used before and one ‘of the usual miniature size, which other publishers have issued’ – the latter was possibly a Boosey & Hawkes or Philharmonia miniature score of a Bartók String Quartet. In the end the quartet was issued in the larger format.
