Letter No.: VWL3128

From R. Vaughan Williams,

Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.

August 8th 1955.

Dear Michael,

Here is a copy of the Passion which I promised you.1
Love to Eslyn

RVW

I am so glad that you thought well of Hoddinott’s symphony.2  I heard of him indirectly the other day, as I have told you, in connection with Bryan Davies.3

1. VW was to conduct a performance of the St Matthew Passion in Manchester about which Michael Kennedy planned an article. He sent Kennedy a vocal score with his cuts and other markings.
2. Hoddinott’s Symphony no.1, op.7 had recently received its first (and only) performance at the Eisteddfod at Pwllhelli.
3. See VWL107 and VWL109.
