Dear Maud
I don’t suppose this will reach you – but I take the risk.  I loved having your long & interesting letter.  Do take care of yourself in the wilds¹
I’ve got no particular news except that we are now settled into our suburban villa² – a hard week getting furniture & pictures in place etc. – it is more or less habitable now.  I spent 2 days at Norwich – all seemed to be going well there – the great excitements was Clive Careys³ engagement – I will look out for your Lovero Trio.
I wonder what luck you are having – I do hope all your labour & hardship will have some reward.  Still I know you w^d not be happy till you’ve done it

1. Karpeles had gone to Newfoundland to collect folksongs, later published in 1934 as Folksongs from Newfoundland.
2. The VWs had just moved to Dorking.
3. Clive Carey and Doris Mabel Johnston. VW was in Norwich for the Triennial Festival.
