Dear Miss Scott
I think it is important to make sure as to who is Ivor Gurney’s legal representative.¹ This is for two reasons: – (1) The O.U. Press will probably want to have some name with whom they can deal (2) We ought to get this legal representative to appoint literary trustees who should have complete control over Gurney’s M.S & published works both now and after his death. I would suggest as trustees yourself, Herbert Howells & Gerald Finzi with power to co-opt further trustees when necessary. This would enable the M.S. to remain in your charge as they are at present, but would ensure a continuity of trusteeship. The trusteeship would of course be both over musical and literary work.
When we meet Mr. Foss² on Wednesday you might like to discuss these points with him.
