Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Marion Scott
Letter No.: VWL3248
From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.
[May 18 1939]
Dear Miss Scott
I agree with you about the Wycombe memorial – I am not very keen on a tablet at Gloucester.1
An artist’s best memorial is his work & I feel that any money we have should be spent on them
– we ought to prepare, at once, another volume of his songs
– And, more important, still, it is high time that his best poems were collected and published
– I shall be at R.C.M.2 on Wednesday and could see you any time – I finish about 5.30
Yrs sincerely
R Vaughan Williams
