Dear Margery,

I think it most important that the next Festival should take place without me being present, at all events officially.  That would leave the Committee free to invite another guest conductor if they wish to do so.
I’m afraid that Manchester may have made a muddle over their dates, and now talk about March 18th, Sunday.  If this is what they really want, would the Saturday following, 24th be possible for you?  But do not do anything yet, as Manchester may have meant 29th after all: I have written to them about it.1
I suggest the same team as last year with the exception of Gordon Clinton – instead of Norman Walker.
Love

Uncle Ralph
