Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Major Percy S.G. O’Donnell
Letter No.: VWL1410
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.
March 24 [1940]
Dear Major O’Donnell,1
I find it very difficult to think of anything new to say about the marching tunes, but I could say something about the Running Set2 and the Medley.3 I wonder if it would be possible for me to say a few words before each of the items or would this be trespassing on the province of the Announcer? Anyway, of course, my remarks would not exceed the number of minutes allowed me.4
Yours sincerely,
R. Vaughan Williams
