We are very anxious to see Arthur Benjamin’s opera on Wednesday, and as we have not got a television set I wonder if you would be so kind as to allow my wife and me to see it at Broadcasting House. We should be so grateful if this is possible.¹

1. The opera was the first and probably only performance of Benjamin’s poorly received opera Mañana. Edward Renton conducted the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a section of Glyndebourne Festival Chorus with Frederick Sharp, Edith Coates, Heather Harper and Carlos Montes. Julian Bream accompanied Gita de la Fuente on the guitar.
