Dear Mr Burnaby1
If Mrs Vulliamy will send me her libretto I will see if I can do anything2
Yrs sincerely
R. Vaughan Williams

2. Mrs Edward Vulliamy had devised a libretto in the subject of Old King Cole and the proposal was that VW should write a ballet, which he did – for orchestra and chorus. On the genesis of the ballet see Kennedy, Catalogue of Works, pp.94-96. The ballet is Catalogue of Works, 1923/2.
