Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to John Barbirolli
Letter No.: VWL3362
From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1.
August 11th 1956.
My dear John,
This is for when you are able to attend to it, and not to interfere with your holiday, – so when it is really over, and when the time comes that you are not overworked, which I fear it won’t – would you do me a great favour which is to allow a pianist, Caterina Wolpe to come and play to you?1 She seems to me very good, I feel that she is really musical and that her craft is keeping pace with her art. She is twenty four. I should like your opinion.
Our love to Evelyn. It was so nice seeing her the other day.
Yrs
