Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to John Barbirolli

Letter No.: VWL2522

From R. Vaughan Williams,

Westcott Road,
Dorking.

October 26th [1952]

Dear John

I hear from the O.U.P. that the score of S.A.1 will be ready by November 1st and the parts by November 17th.  Will you tell your Librarian to communicate direct with the O.U.P. as to what you would like done with them.
You once murmured something about having a preliminary run through – if this is possible it would be a great boon to me.  The O.U.P. are making a fuss about getting extra parts ready early in view of proposed American performances.  But I say that they must do nothing till I have heard it, and possibly made alterations –
My love to Evelyn
Yrs
