Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Joan Western

Letter No.: VWL240

The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

Feb 19 [1935]

Dear Mrs Western

I enclose herewith 15 copies of our letter to the Press – All you have to do is to fill in the name of the Paper & send a covering letter saying you write at my request asking them to insert it – 1
Do not send one to the Daily Telegraph as I shall do that myself on Thursday so that if possible it shall get into the Saturday issue – I also enclose my rough copy in which I have made a few alterations & this will do for you to send to the printer when we bring out our leaflet
Perhaps you had better first show the letter to Mrs Hubback for her approval before you finally send it.2
Yours sincerely

R. Vaughan Williams

P.S. If you want any more copies would you have them typed & sent me for my signature.

1.  For the text of  the letter see VWL273.
2.  VW was Chairman of the Gustav Holst Memorial Fund, whose object was to build an extension at Morley College. Joan Western was the secretary and Eva Hubback was Principal of Morley College and a member of the committee.
