Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Joan Shaw

Letter No.: VWL4239

From R. Vaughan Williams,
10, Hanover Terrace,
Regents Park,
London, N.W.1

October 30th 1955.

Dearest Joan,

Ursula has shown me your letter:
1.  If your Committee will state a case & apply for a grant, I fear a small one, from The Ecclesiastical Trust c/o Secretary English Hymnal Company Ltd, 68 Coleman Street, E.C.2. it will receive attention.  I fear that normally, not till our annual meeting in July, but if it was urgent we could probably arrange an emergency meeting.
2.  I accept Oxford, 11am Tuesday July 19th.  Tell me when later on.
3.  As regards new EH idea I fear I cannot do anything about it myself, but if you would really be willing to make up a book I will vet it & make suggestions, doubtless Martin would do the same.

Love to you both
Ralph
P.S. Those fools who write letters to the paper are not worth answering
