Thank you very much for writing to me. I am so glad to think that you enjoyed it. When you become as old as I am you very much want the appreciation of those who are still quite young.¹
What a wonderful collection of records you have, but do not depend on them entirely but do some playing for yourself even [if], as you say, you are not good at it.
I wish the attendant at the library had come through for I should like to have met you very much.

1. Mrs Treves had been to a performance of Pilgrim’s Progress at Covent Garden and had attempted to approach VW in the stalls, but had been prevented doing so by an attendant. The reference to ‘Library’ is probably a due to a mis-hearing on the part of VW’s secretary.
