Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Ina Boyle

Letter No.: VWL1176

From R. Vaughan Williams,
The White Gates,
Westcott Road,
Dorking.

Monday [3rd May 1937]

Dear Miss Boyle

Many thanks for your letter & cheque.1  I think it is most courageous of you to go on with so little recognition.  The only thing to say is that it sometimes
does come finally.
I have given Honorine your very kind message – it would be a delightful visit for her.2
Yours sincerely

R. Vaughan Williams

1. For lessons from VW.
2. Honorine Williamson was a niece of Adeline VW’s brother-in-law R.O. Morris; she had come to live with the VWs, fresh from domestic science college, in 1928 to help Adeline in the house and with the impending move. She remained a much-loved member of the household for 12 years. Ina Boyle possible invited her to visit her in Ireland.
