Dear Herbert
Thank you very much for your share in my birthday present. The radiator warms both my heart and my feet.1
As regards your generous cheque, I have placed it in the hands of the Treasurer of the L.H.M.F.,2 to be used at his discretion to give financial help to those choral societies who are in difficulties. I hope you will approve of this.
Yours sincerely,
RVW
(R. Vaughan Williams).
