I have put the whole thing in the hands of the O.U.P. so I hope all will be well – but I haven’t heard yet when I am to go to Philadelphia.¹ How are you? & how many millionaires have you at your feet?²

1. Since 1925 Oxford University Press had been the publisher of the majority of VW’s output, though there were a few exceptions. VW had been invited to Philadelphia to deliver the Mary Flexner Lectures at Bryn Mawr.
2. Cohen was in New York staying at the Park Central Hotel.
3. William Walton’s Belshazzar’s Feast had been first given at the Leeds Festival this year but VW is probably referring to the first London performance under Adrian Boult on 25 November.
