Dear Child
Many thanks for your letter. (I think I’ve got the idea for your little bit of Mary’s you sent last time.)
Now for the next
4 lines of jubilation which can be sung by Mary or Hugh to fit in between, or with
‘the cock has had its comb cut etc.’ (after the fight) the tune is
to which various numbers of syllables could be fitted in – it is roughly in the ‘Locksley Hall’ metre.
