Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Harold Child
Letter No.: VWL4939
13 Cheyne Walk,
[1910?]
My dear Child
And this just as I am beginning to enjoy myself and things are going to hum! I spent all yesterday afternoon and evening over Hugh’s song and I think it’s turning out very good, also the ‘Linnet’ song has got a very nice little tune. I’m most awfully distressed if I gave you a wrong impression by my letter – all I meant was that there was going to be no big bow-wow about my music – but just easy going stuff suitable (I hope) for a comic opera. Now don’t let us put each other off just as things are beginning to go with a swing. I’m getting more and more excited about it every day. Send me some more as soon as ever you can as I shall soon have done all you have sent me.
Yours ever,
R. Vaughan Williams
