Dearest Grace
I’m so sorry you kept away
I’m fearfully excited to find that Hen Walia is to be broadcast – so I shall hear it
– Also a long screed all about you in last weeks Radio Times – a bore about those Tuba etc parts – but a composer’s life is made up of that kind of thing.
Good luck!!!
Love from Uncle Ralph

General Notes:
The first performance was broadcast from the Cardiff Eisteddfod on BBC Western Region and on the National Programme from Daventry on 6 August 1931. VW’s Benedicite was performed earlier in the day at the Eisteddfod but not broadcast.
The Hen Walia (“Old Wales”) overture was also broadcast on Monday 15 November 1937, but the headed notepaper here was used mainly until 1935. -
