Dear Professor Murray
I am afraid the only legible copy of the Bacchae music is lost. There was a question of performance a few years ago & I sent it away to be copied & it got lost – all I have is a perfectly illegible copy of the “full score” & the separate band and chorus parts. However when next I go to London I will have a hunt to see if I can find it.
By the way I was asked the other day by Ashdowns for a short piece for female voices and I made them an arrangement of the music for the words “Where is the home for me … full spirit of guiding fire”. If they accept it will you be so kind as to allow them to print the words with the musical setting
Yours sincerely
R. Vaughan Williams
