Letter from Ralph Vaughan Williams to Gilbert Murray
Letter No.: VWL336
13 Cheyne Walk
S.W.
[early October 1911]
Dear Professor Murray
It will be a great pleasure to me to call on you when I come to Oxford & talk about Greek play music.
May I say how much it has distressed me to hear those wonderful lines in Elektra and your other plays mauled about by (as it seems to me) quite the wrong kind of musical setting.
Whether I shall be any use in suggesting anything more suitable I do not know – but anyway it will be a great pleasure to me to hear your opinion on the subject.
I shall be in Oxford on November 16th & 17th – wd either of these days suit you?
Yours very truly
R. Vaughan Williams
