My Dear Gerald & Joyce & all my friends on the postcard (I feel sure all the young women whose names are signed & whom I don’t know are as pretty as those I do)

so thank you all – but I am glad I was not there as if I had been I sh^d have had to conduct my tune¹ myself – & that performance under G.D.² which everyone (you included) says was so fine w^d not have come off
